Carnival in Aalborg, Denmark provide the same hot samba rhythms, and the amazing carnival feeling!
In 1982, four people came together, with the common goal of creating a carnival in Aalborg –
the capital of North Jutland. A year later, in 1983, the very first
carnival was held in Aalborg with around 5-10,000 active participants. Since then, this annual event has grown steadyly and today, about 100,000 people join the event to enjoy samba rhythms
and amazing costumes in the largest carnival in Northern Europe -
the Carnival in Aalborg!

Carnival in Aalborg is for everyone - one thing that differentiates the carnival in Aalborg from other major carnivals, which normally are exclusive for professional participants. The carnival in Aalborg challenges everyone to act on his or her inner instincts and create an original costume. Carnival in Aalborg is a celebration of life
and only the fantasy sets the limits for the costumes, resulting in a unique and very popular carnival.
Carnival in Aalborg is a popular event that offer exotic and extravagant experiences to both participants
and spectators. At the carnival
in Aalborg, both participants and spectators can experience carnival traditions from all over the world, when
international carnival groups from all parts of the world come to Aalborg and set their mark on the parade. These carnival groups enhance the experience of being at the carnival
when amazing costumes, feathers, drums and exotic rhythms create a real and traditional carnival atmosphere.
A week of
Carnival
The carnival shrouds the city of Aalborg in a carnival mood for an entire week in May, and this year it reaches its climax on Saturday, May 28th with the Grand Parade and the following Garden Party in the city park, Kildeparken, which works as the center of the many activities and entertainment throughout the carnival week.
The Children’s Carnival, May 22nd 2011: The children and their parents parade through midtown of Aalborg towards Kildeparken, where there plenty of activities, games and entertainment for the children - in the gorgeous surroundings with grass, trees and idyllic atmosphere. Dress the kids up, and go for a family picnic in the park - unlike another picnic!
Battle of Carnival Bands, May 27th 2011: The international carnival groups parade through town on on Friday night, leaving the city with an exotic vibe - and continue the rhythms in Kildeparken, where each group performs with grand shows filled with samba rhythms, amazing costumes and carnival traditions from all over the world. All as a part of the competition to win the title “The Best Carnival Group 2009”.
Carnival Party, May 28th 2011: An entire day of fun a festivities! The participants parade through the streets toward the city park, Kildeparken, where about
25,000 participants party on and dance to the music coming from four stages - you do not was to miss the intense carnival vibe of this special day.
