Freedom
- Funded with support from the EU Culture program 2007-2013

Aalborg Carnival cooperate with carnivals from London and Paris on the EU-funded program "Freedom". The goal is to develop and pass on carnival art, literature, music, dance created by artists of African extraction. The intercultural dialogue on history, art and culture will in that way be supported and strengthened. Key themes are equality and identity. The three countries (Denmark, England and France) all have historical relations to Africa.

The activities in the project period will include literary festivals, exhibitions, music, dance and carnivals from all three countries. The project will unify authors, historians and local leaders in meetings, discussions and workshops. In this way network across Europe will be established and experiences shared.

The project runs from 2007-2009.

The carnival group "Etnick 07" is part of the project Freedom.
