Survakar Group "Svetlya"

One of the main cultural traditions in the village of Svetlya are the survakar games. As a folk custom it has been known since the 19th century but as a pagan tradition it has been spreading all over the country and handed down from generation to generation for more than 450 years now. The main theme has been the fertility of land, people and animals. The strong belief that supernatural forces exist in order to ensure this fertility has lead the people to use the masks to make their life better.

This folk custom has been demonstrated particularly strongly in the village of Svetlya over the last 30 years,

Without interrupting the authenticity, the survakar masks and costumes are becoming ever more beautiful, exotic and the bells ever more melodic.
